Christmas Cards For Soldiers

We have a new challenge starting today at the Cowgirls Sunday Stampen Challenge" This week we would love for you to make a Christmas or Holiday  Card for the Soldiers that are away from home over the festive period. The cards will be sent to them so they can fill them in and send them home to their loved ones.
You can find the address to send them too on the challenge site.
And if you need some instant xmas piccies pop over to the Ranch and look at some of the fun xmas digi's there.

As this is such a special challenge we have some special Sponsorsfor you lucky peeps Whimsey Stamps and Whiff of Joy"

For my card I have used this great image from Whimsey Stamps
Those sharp eyed among you may have noticed that I havent used any glitter on my card, this is because it is too dangerous for the soldiers if it comes of onto them it can be seen in infra red light.
As soon as I recieved this image I knew that I wanted to keep it monochrome so have only used, Weathered Wood Distress Inks. The Snowflakes were cut in my cuttlebug and embossed whilst still in the dies and the background paper was using a Spellbinders embossing sheet and distressed.
The ribbon I had in my stash.

To win an extra prize this week the cowgirls are going to be hopping around your blogs and if you help spread the word about this special event and have the announcement piccie on your sidebar you may just win an extra prize.

Tweet Street, Nana Vic DT

Wow it seems like forever since I have made a card and blogged.
The past few weeks have been a bit up and down, we got infested with Moths that decided my axminster was real tasty!!!!!! Of course they had to eat the area near my craft cupboard, which even I will admit is huge and very very full! So after having the Grandson for the weekend and really neeeeeding to recover we spent Bank Holiday Monday emptying my craft stuff so we could get to the carpet underneath to throw it away.

But things looked up and I went to the Graphicus Paradise Retreat met up with some really great people and had an absolute blast - its amazing how 6 complete strangers can get together and have such a great time. We didnt stop talking and laughing the whole weekend. But what goes up must come down and whilst I was there, the house got burgaled!!!!!!!!!!

Then this week my youngest Son who had only just started a new job after being made redundant months ago, his new company went into administration, hopefully though it looks like theya re going to be taken over and will possibly keep him on so keep your fingers crossed.

But oh so much worse than anything else, I have a cold but Hubby has MAN FLU. Not too sure if he will survive or whether I will put him out of his misery lol.

Anyways to my card. This image is called Tweet Street and is by the uber talented Nana Vic which you can get Here
I coloured the image three times in Copics and decoupaged it and made the background papers using a new resistance technique for me. some of the leaves came out real well others not so good, but in all honesty is probably the wrong type of stamp for this technique.
I'm going to enter this into the following challenges

Wow where has this year gone too, I cant believe thats it is the 1st September already!

But hey you know what that means - it's time for a new challenge at Whoopsi Daisy and have we got a great challenge for you this month or what?

We want you to Pile On The Flowers - now how easy is that?

So what are you waiting for?

Here is the front of my card for this month sorry you will have to bear with me to get the full effect of this card.

(I am going to say straight away that I cant take credit for the design of the card - this came from tutorials by Marianne who makes the most amazing drool over cards and projects.

The heart is made in two pieces of DP and then woven together. The papers are all from the Paper Cellar Wedding Pad.
This little cutie is obviously one of the great little images from Whoopsi Daisy and comes from sheet 28 which you can get Here.

Last picture of the complete inside.

I have made this card for my DIL to give to her mum who is going to be renewing her wedding vows next month. DIL loves it so I her mum does to!

Corners were cut with Friskars Scissors and Flourish is a Clarity Stamp.

And of course not forgetting the flowers the spray being from Craft Creations and the rest from Wild Orchid.

Couple of quickies Not

Thought I would make a couple of quick cards this evening and get out some of my very neglected stamps - and then remembered I had some new ones that hadnt even seen ink!!!!!!

This stamp is from Kanban, which I have decorated with Swarovski gems. Martha Stewart punch and an Archival stamp pad.

Only thing is it has taken me three hours to make these two, dont ask me why cause they are very simple!
On the bottom of the easel I have used a aflourish stamp from Anna Griffin, now this is a really neglected set of stamps I have had them about three years and used only one or two a couple of times :-(

This is the other one I made.

Nana Vic DT

Nana Vic is hosting one of the challenges on the Crafters Digital Art Centre and she has provided this gorgeous image of Nana writing a letter. The theme is something old.

I have made this notelet holder using the image on the front  with papers from the shabby rose collection by
raspberry road designs. To make it old I have distressed the edges and used vintage photo distress inks.
I continued the papers inside and added one of Nana's sentiments to the note and another to the note holder which I tripled embossed.
I punched out Nana's head and added this to the side with the envelopes.

Then just because I loved this image and style I couldnt resist continuing the theme and made this little post it note holder to go with it.

If you haven't seen the Nana Vic's images yet pop on over to her Store for extra inspiration pop over to Carol's Blog and see her stunning creation.

Here
As many of you know I am a bit of a fantasy fanatic, so just had to have this one. I used papers from Rasberry Road for this card and the swirls are filekutz.
The unicorn I coloured with irridescent paints and grey copics which I mottled by dabbing with the blender pen and then triple embossed.

For those that havent had chance to enter into this weeks challenge at Cowgirls Sunday Stampen Challenge which is animals or bugs you still have time to enter so hope to see your creations there as I am judging the entries this week (all bribes considered) lol specially as we have such a great sponsor this week Whimsy Stamps.

Good luck on your venture! Your images are unlike any I've come across before. I love 'em!

Some of them remind me so much of my own grandmother. She always had her hair up like that and she could do anything, and I mean ANYthing in a dress!

I just had a sneaky peek at Jessica's blog and she is quite a new crafter so she hasnt got too much stash as yet - well as we all know that wont be the case for long. lol.

Anyways this will help build up her collection.

Jessica please leave me your email addy so that I can contact you and arrange delivery.

Congratulations Hun
