Make It Colourful DT Light Source Top Left Challenge

Helloooooo lovely people of blogland, it's time for a new challenge at Make It Colourful     and this week Zoe has kept us all on our toes and has chosen 'Light source from the TOP LEFT'.

Wow did I have to work at this or what, I have to admit that I normally put some light areas in hair and such like but haven't ever really thought about where the light source is coming from or what the effects will be.

I chose to use Flirty Seniors which you can find Make It Crafty Zoe's online store.
The image is coloured in copics and this is my first attempt which although I am quite pleased with I can see areas where I could have improved but as luck would have it my printer died on me this week so I couldn't print it out again. (it was definetely one of those weeks, the kettle started to leak as well went to replace that and thought I would treat myself to one of the super duper steam irons at almost £175 whilst I was still in full time work, to more months and I am down to a four day week so money will be a bit tighter) and of course it was that evening that the printer broke and apparently its going to cost more to repair than buy a new one: - Oh well I guess thats why I got a credit card lol. Hopefully I can talk hubby in to coming to get one with me this afternoon!

Anyway  musn't waffle back to my colouring, I tried to work out what bits the light would hit such as his head and shoulders and parts of our saucy lady and then tried to put shadows in the right places. I think I need to try and be a bit braver with the shadows as not sure that they show up enough. I hope though that after seeing my first effort that you will give the challenge a go. You dont have to use a MIC image, but it would be great if you did

Heres a view of the whole card the papers are from Tim Holtz idea-ology Vintage Shabby which is my new fav, the flower is a Tim Holtz die.

Alyssa

Another Alyssa for you, papers are from Tim Holtz.

Sketch is last weeks sketch from create 4 fun which I just liked.

Alyssa

Is this a pretty fairy or what? She is one of the new images that are currently available from Make It Crafty and is called Alyssa Elven Princess.
Being part of such a fabulous DT has really made me look at how I colour images and I have used this image to practise folds in the skirt and light sources. I am really pleased with how she turned out so think the practising is starting to pay off (just hope the Boss Lady agrees lol) The wings I coloured with copics using a feather effect and then sprayed with silver Crafters Companion glitter spray. Love the effect but I dont think you really get the full impact with the pictures.
Circles are spellbinders dies the plain circle I put into the swiss dots cuttlebug folder to give added texture the diamonds on the layers are also cuttlebug folders.

Heres a view of the inside of the easel card, the sentiment is yep you guessed it  a cuttlebug embossing folder.
I layered the wings to give the image more depth and placed on the card with silicone so I could give her more shape, I did try to take a side view photo to show you but it is not to clear I was getting a lot of bounce back as the card is white pearlescent.

Oh and can you see that fabulous signature, well this was a pressy to me from the lovely Vickie of Nana Vic fame.

I am entering the card into four challenges
Charisma Cardz Mythical/Fantasy
Totally Papercrafts Clean and Simple
Fab N Funky Texture
ABC N for Neutral

Mr Jones

Now this is my kinda man, one who can still find the kid in him and enjoy the simple things like splashing in the puddles, as long as the grandkids dont see lol.

Now this young at heart fellow is one of the new digis by the oh so talented Nana Vic and is called Mr Jones Puddles, oops just had a bit of a typo and called it Mr Jones Piddles lol. Anyway you can get him Here.

I have coloured him with Copics and have been practising my blue to purples shading on the umbrella which is the challenge at Make It Colourful this week. Now I have got the hang of this I really like the effect it gives.

I added some glaze to the puddle to give the water effect. The papers are from Paper Pizzazz Vacation.

Make It Colourful DT Blue to Purple

Oh dear have I been a bad blogger and DT member or what, but I do have excuses, I'm late posting for this weeks challenge of Blue to Purple at Make It Colourful cos I had the baby last night totally got sidetracked by him that dare I say this I forgot to post it Oops.

For the challenge this week I have used this cute Butterfly Baby Boy from Karen's Doodles who is our SPONSOR this week and Old Oak Tree from Make It Crafty which was just the perfect image for my first ever scrapbook for my Son and DIL of their new addition Mason, who has now reached the grand old age of 3 weeks. It has taken me nearly all week to complete the project but am thrilled with how it turned out and I just so know Im going to be doing some more hopefully though I will get to know the programme a bit better and be able to speed up!

Another sorry as this is a real crap photo, my camera has decided that it is only going to work in one mode and this was the clearest I could get hoping that I can get a new one before next week. Anyways Butterfly boy does look a lot better IRL. The challenge that Zoe set us this week was to blend the colours blue and purple, I found this real hard and this is version 6, which in the end I was reasonably pleased with, but definetely think I need to practice this technique some more.

The rest of the girls have done some amazing things with the colour combo which you really need to pop over and see.

Here's a peep at a couple of the pages inside
